Doing so will allow players to revive a plethora of DBZ villains, with Frieza and Cell thus far confirmed. Chances are, Majin Buu and his variations will also be possible, but whether or not smaller enemies like Yakon or Pui Pui can be brought back from death to be pummeled one more time remains to be seen. New screenshots have shown what the revival process looks like, how Dragon Balls look in game, and of course, some of the absurd fights that players can do.

Namely, one screenshot shows Super Saiyan 3 Goku fighting Frieza, which does not happen in canonical events, yet it is something that many fans would love to take part in. It seems that these are not just blanket, pretend-they-don’t-exist mechanics either; Cell, for example, is shown acknowledging the very fact that he has been revived in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
The Dragon Balls seem like simple collectibles in the way they are hidden around the world, and it seems likely players will be able to use the Dragon Ball Radar to find them. However, it’s hopefully more than just finding them and coming across them while playing the game. There are special open-world enemies in DBZ: Kakarot that could be a fun way to collect Dragon Balls, especially if the Z Fighters are not the only ones looking for them.
More will become available as the game’s release date draws near, especially if Bandai Namco remains so generous in providing information. After all, there are plenty of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot screenshots that fans of the franchise can enjoy just as much as these.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot releases January 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
