Instead of Dying Light’s Nightmare mode simply upping the ante in terms of AI being harder, better, faster, and stronger, it will also disallow players’ use of Easter egg weapons, while also implementing XP penalties for getting killed. However, if gamers are up to the task and manage to hold their own against the zombie hordes, experience points will be earned at an even quicker rate — co-op play is even more advantageous for fans, as they get a 10% bonus for each partner — and the likelihood of finding gold-tier weapons will be even higher.
According to Dying Light producer Tymon Skektala, the game’s Nightmare mode was created for people who want to truly test their skills, as it is a “really challenging and immersive experience.” As seen in the trailer below, everything that can be found in the zombie title’s Hard mode will be included as well, meaning that longer nights, more indefatigable enemies, and fewer HUD options will be on the table. Dying Light’s Enhanced Edition and The Following expansion will not only be receiving a Nightmare mode, but Techland has also shown off a three-tiered system for bounties to be implemented in the add-on as well. What’s more, fans will also be able to trick out the game’s buggies once the DLC arrives, as the studio will be adding vehicle customization.
With developers continuing to provide such marvelously extensive support for Dying Light nearly a year after its initial availability, it’s no wonder why the title has such a large fan base.
