In previous Super Bowls, the major studios have been known to use the sports event to create a blitz on the marketing for their upcoming films. Notably, in 2018 Netflix announced the immediate release of The Cloverfield Paradox after the Super Bowl. That same year, Dwayne Johnson went to The Tonight Show to promote his movie Skyscraper. Last year, Universal ran previews for F9, M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, and its Bob Odenkirk action movie Nobody. Deadline reported on the trailers that may be shown during Super Bowl 2022.
Warner Bros., Sony, and Apple are expected to continue their tradition of sitting out on promoting any of their films during Super Bowl. Hulu and HBO Max are expected to also join them.
Fans should be excited about an action-packed summer with films of all genres scheduled to drop in the coming months. The sneak previews during the Super Bowl are expected to generate glee and give fans more information on movies, some of which are surrounded by many rumors and some that have no information at all beyond a title or a poster.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.
