Recently, MultiVersus’ game director took to Twitter to tell fans when they might be getting the next look at some new characters for the game. According to Tony Huynh, fans could expect to see some new MultiVersus fighters teased in the login screen at the launch of the first season. However, while this login screen will be seen by all fans on August 15, some have spotted it early and revealed the new characters that will be coming to MultiVersus.

The new additions to MultiVersus’ roster are Stripe from the Gremlins franchise and Black Adam from DC Comics. Considering Dwayne Johnson has his Black Adam movie set for release in October, it makes sense that the anti-hero would be added to the incredibly popular MultiVersus around then or potentially before the film’s release. Stripe makes a little less immediate sense, but fans had spotted that a Gremlins character coming to MultiVersus in previous leaks for the game, so it isn’t a wholly unexpected addition.
Some were hoping that Gizmo would be the character from Gremlins making an appearance, with a datamine even suggesting that would be the case. It is still possible that Gizmo could appear in MultiVersus, but perhaps as a cosmetic skin for Stripe rather than an entirely different character. Currently, there’s no news on when these characters could be available to play or how they will be unlocked. Considering the hype around MultiVersus’ new battle pass, it is possible these characters could be added as later rewards for it.
It is also possible that they will simply be added naturally to be purchased with gold or Gleamium at a later date. For now, fans already have another pair of characters to look forward to with the addition of Rick and Morty to MultiVersus. With Morty coming next week and Rick likely to be added soon after, fans will have to wait until those releases have taken place before they can anticipate Black Adam and Stripe dropping.
MultiVersus is available now in Open Beta on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
