The new PS Plus tiers give PlayStation 4 and 5 gamers three options to choose from: PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium. PS Plus Essential is vanilla PS Plus, giving players access to monthly free games, various discounts on the PlayStation Store, and online multiplayer. PS Plus Extra is the next step up, essentially combining the existing PlayStation Now service with PS Plus and adding some newer, higher profile games into the mix. PS Plus Premium is the priciest tier, and it gives users access to retro games, some of which come with enhancements to improve the experience for modern gamers.

It seems that combining PlayStation Now with PS Plus for the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers has caused an exodus of games that were previously available to play through PlayStation Now. A list was compiled by PSN Profiles user starvar of over 200 games that are on the way out.

It’s also been confirmed that some of the other games included in the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will be leaving within the next few months. Namely, Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare are expected to be removed on September 20. That’s disappointing news for Red Dead Redemption fans, but at least there’s plenty of time to play those games before they’re removed.

It’s expected that games will be cycled in and out of availability when it comes to the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium tiers, but it may still be a shock for so many games to be removed all at once. The good news is that the PS Plus revamp has also seen the addition of many games that weren’t available on the service previously, ranging from PS1 classics like Resident Evil: Director’s Cut to newer releases like Housemarque’s Returnal, so there should be no shortage of games for subscribers to play.
